What is a digital planner?
A digital planner is an electronic planner, usually a PDF file, that is designed to be used in a note-taking app like Goodnotes, Noteshelf, Xodo, or Notability. You can use these apps on your iPad or Android tablet and then write on your planner using a stylus like the Apple Pencil.
A digital planner has hyperlinked tabs on the side so that when you tap on a tab, your planner flips to that spot instantly so you don’t have to manually flip through.
What are the Benefits of Using a Digital Planner?
Why would you use a digital planner instead of a paper planner?
- There is no need to carry around tons of pens
- No need to print, saving you ink and paper!
- It’s therefore more environmentally friendly
- There are unlimited pens and colours inside the note-taking apps
- You can duplicate pages to save time
- You can delete pages you don’t need
- You can easily erase notes or move them to a different location on the page
- You can search through your notes
- You can add photos or pictures to your notes
- You can add stickers and never run out of them!
What do you Need to Use a Digital Planner?
- You need a tablet like an iPad or Android tablet
- You need a stylus to write with like an Apple Pencil
- You need a note annotation app like Goodnotes, Notability, Xodo, or Noteshelf
- You need a digital planner of course 🙂

Yes! If you browse Instagram or YouTube you will find many people using digital planners to organize their lives.
If you do a search for “digital planner” on Etsy you will also find digital planners with lots of reviews.
